In the future, the proportion of recycled aluminum consumption will gradually increase

The recycled aluminum industry uses a variety of waste aluminum materials to produce aluminum alloys. Compared to bauxite, alumina, electrolytic aluminum, and aluminum alloy production processes, it greatly reduces thermal energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, and it does not damage the surface vegetation. Moreover, recycling of aluminum resources has been realized, and the recycled aluminum industry has significant social benefits in resource conservation, energy conservation, emission reduction, and environmental protection. Therefore, the recycled aluminum industry belongs to the encouragement industry specified in the “Guidance Catalogue for Industrial Structure Adjustment” and is supported by the national industrial policy.

Recycled aluminum casting alloys are widely used in industries such as automobiles, motorcycles and electric vehicles, electronic information, machinery manufacturing, household appliances and construction hardware. Among them, automobiles, motorcycles, and electric vehicles account for nearly 75% of the entire downstream consumption, and they are the major consumer areas for recycled aluminum foundry alloys. In the future, the production and sales volume of China's autos will continue to maintain stable growth. In 2017, the annual sales of automobiles will increase by approximately 5% year-on-year, and the growth of auto production will provide stable support for the consumption of recycled aluminum.

In the past 10 years, the recycled aluminum industry has experienced a period of sustained growth. According to statistics, from 2005 to 2016, the output of recycled aluminum increased from 1.94 million tons to 6.4 million tons. Among them: During the period from 2005 to 2010, the output of recycled aluminum maintained a relatively high growth rate. In addition to a 5.45% year-on-year decrease in production in 2008, the annual growth rate of annual output of recycled aluminum remained at around 20% during this period. Higher levels; between 2011 and 2016, the growth rate of recycled aluminum production has slowed.

With the dual support of policies and markets, the demand for recycled aluminum maintained a good upward momentum. At present, more than 30% of the global aluminum consumption comes from recycled aluminum, which is close to 70% in Europe and the United States. Although China's production of recycled aluminum has been increasing year by year, due to the rapid growth of primary aluminum production, the consumption of recycled aluminum accounts for only a relatively low, only about 20%.

Due to the low energy consumption of recycled aluminum in the production process, together with the gradual increase of domestic waste aluminum accumulation, the scrapping cycle is approaching, and it is expected that the proportion of recycled aluminum consumption in China will gradually increase in the future.
